Come and find out what sociologists have explored on the theme of participation in Dubrovnik and Montenegro, as well as what our international experts have to say about the participation of the public in their own countries and learn about the EU Charter of Spatial Planning. Presentation and exhibition will be held in the university campus on Friday, June 13th at 10:00 am.

Presentation on the participation of stakeholders in the protection and management of cultural and natural heritage is intended for representatives of interested institutions, non-governmental organizations from Dubrovnik and Boka Kotorska, as well as representatives of partners and collaborators in the project and other interested public involved in the participatory process. The presentation will open an exhibition of photographs submitted as part of the first event of the project campaign called “Landscape Days”.

Presentation and the exhibition will be held in Dubrovnik, Friday June 13th and Saturday June 14 at Tivat.

The aim of the presentation is ​​to present a sociological study of the pilot area of Dubrovnik and Vrmac in the Boka Kotorska, and get acquainted with the experiences of public participation in the European countries, which should contribute to improving the participation and involvement of the public in the initial actions in the planning process.

Participatory process in Croatia was led by the Institute of Social Sciences Ivo Pilar. The central activity of the implementation of the participatory process was the implementation of empirical research whose purpose was to prepare the basis for making recommendations for improving the participation of stakeholders in the protection and management of cultural and natural values ​​in the pilot area of Dubrovnik.

The objectives of the research study were to gain insight into:
– A general view on the importance of protecting the natural and cultural heritage in relation to other development criteria;
– Awareness of the existing level of protection and management of cultural and natural values ​​of the pilot area of ​​Dubrovnik;
– Satisfaction with existing models of participation in the planning process of local development.

Conducted process should identify the main actors that should be involved in the process and their views on the existing and preferred level of participation, then it should give desirable channels of communication but also major obstacles, that today may be noticed, that damage the dialogue.

We’ll find out something about the European Charter for Regional Planning – BARCELONA 2013, which notes that Europe needs cities and regions that are strong and good for life, which is why regional planning is vital for the future of Europe.
